Rep. Lanoue Speaks in Favor of His Concept to Establish a Task Force to Examine the ICPC

Posted on February 21, 2024

During Tuesday’s Children’s Committee meeting, I had the opportunity to speak on my concept to form a task force to examine the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC). It is crucial that the ICPC protects Connecticut’s children and families, so we do not cede our authority and decision-making process to other states when it comes to Connecticut residents.

I would like to my fellow members on the Children’s Committee for supporting this concept and ensuring that a public hearing is

Rep. Lanoue Speaks on His Concept for Veterans’ 2Q Endorsements for the Operation of Fire Apparatus

Posted on February 16, 2024

The Veterans Committee voted Thursday to hold a public hearing on my concept that will help streamline the bureaucracy on certifications for active-duty military personnel and fire departments regarding 2Q endorsements.

I am grateful to the committee for raising this concept and look forward to listening to the testimony during the public hearing.

Posted on February 9, 2024

On Wednesday, it was my honor to have my mother, Suzanne, join me for opening day of the 2024 Legislative Session. Throughout the years, my mother has been my biggest supporter, and sharing these moments with her as I prepare to represent you again for another year was very important to me.

Thank you to my mother for all her love and support which has helped me be in this unique position to represent my neighbors at our State Capitol.

Special Session to Ban Gas-Powered Cars?

Posted on January 22, 2024

It was less than two months ago that Democrats yanked their proposed ban on gas-powered vehicles and conceded residents had valid concerns. Yet Democrats are now “feeling pretty good” about the prospects of adopting the California plan and are even plotting special session dates for the end of this month.

I encourage you all to have your voices heard by calling the Governor’s office and Democratic leaders in the state legislature.

If a special session is called, you will not have the opportunity

Ledyard High School Civics in Action

Posted on December 20, 2023

On Thursday, I had the pleasure for the second year in a row now to join the Civics in Action event at Ledyard High School. I met with several groups of tenth grade students and multiple topics came up that were important to the students.

Topics ranged from environmental issues such as climate change and waste reduction, lowering the cost of health insurance and greater access to healthcare, to gun issues such as castle doctrine and combatting gun violence, and how to help those in our community

Preston: Maple Lane Farms Visit

Posted on December 15, 2023

This past weekend, I had a wonderful visit to Maple Lane Farms in Preston. With the Christmas season upon us, tree sales take the spotlight on the farm. The average height for a standard tree is about 6-7 feet tall, and once a tree is planted it usually takes on average about 7-8 years to mature and fully grow to that height. Often, when they replant the trees, new trees are planted in between the stumps of trees that have been recently cut down. That’s more of a way to utilize the most space possible

Lisbon: Saturday Food Drive a Success to Help Those In Need

Posted on November 22, 2023

On Saturday, there was a great turnout at the food drive at Adams Market (Better Val-U) in Lisbon. The United Way of Southeastern Connecticut was accepting food and cash donations to help those in our community that are in need.

Thank you to the Boy Scouts Troop 73, the Gemma Moran Food Center, K Hits 100.9 FM, the Jewett City Savings Bank and Adams Market for the great team effort supporting our communities. The Gemma Moran Food Center has grown over the years and is considered the hub of food banks

An Afternoon at the Preston Public Library

Posted on November 22, 2023

On Saturday, the Preston Public Library held another fun and educational program where kids got to hold and pet different animals while learning all about them.

There were Guinea pigs, bunnies, and naked neck chickens. I made a new friend, Carlos the Chinchilla.

Carlos is a rescue and comes from the Andes Mountains of Chile. They do not like the heat and roll around in volcanic ash to cool off in their natural habitat. Carlos has also been under a lot of stress lately because “his wife” is pregnant
