State Rep. Lanoue & Voluntown First Selectman Tracey Hanson Testify in Favor of H.B. No. 5350

Posted on March 19, 2024

On Friday, I had the opportunity to testify along with Voluntown First Selectman Tracey Hanson, in front of the Environment Committee in support of H.B. No. 5350, which will enable dual enforcement for Connecticut and Rhode Island law enforcement to pursue violators into the other state’s waters on Beach Pond.

I want to thank the Chairs Representative Joe Gresko and Senator Rick Lopes, along with Ranking Members Senate Leader Steve Harding and State Representative Pat Callahan, of the Environment Committee for bringing this bill to a public hearing.

Also, a big thank you to Beach Pond resident Jef Dunphy for being in Hartford to show his support and to all the residents who submitted their testimony. This legislation is long overdue and needed to help ensure Beach Pond remains one of Connecticut’s most valuable natural resources and is a safe & fun place for all who live and visit it. I will be sure to keep you up do date on the advancement of this bill.
