BETHANYState Rep. Lezlye Zupkus (R-Prospect) recently visited Clover Nook Farm with Commissioner Bryan Hurlburt of the Department of Agriculture. Rep. Zupkus and her fellow government officials met with the farm’s owners, The Demander Family, to discuss the recent impact of the Community Investment Act. The farm is focused on providing the greater community with quality produce and meats, while operating under the best practices of sustainability. Recently, the farm has benefited from its application and receipt of several state and federal grants, including a Farm Transition Grant in 2022. These grants have improved operations, leading to a drastic increase in sales. “Sound community investments create a more stable economy and provide a pathway for our partners in the business community to thrive. I applaud the efforts of Commissioner Hurlburt and his team to learn about the needs of Connecticut farmers and provide the resources necessary to farms like Clover Nook, which will continue to increase operations and improve the quality of food that is available to us,” said Zupkus.
