Dear Friends and Neighbors,
With customers of Connecticut Water Company in Bethany, Prospect, and Waterbury, I want to let you know that the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) will be having a public comment hearing on an application by Connecticut Water to raise water rates.
The Connecticut Water Company has proposed an increase of approximately 18.1%, which would be effective on or about July 1, 2024.
I oppose this rate increase and I encourage all residents to submit testimony against it at the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority public hearing. This proposed rate hike is just another financial hit to our residents that we can’t afford.
PURA has scheduled Public Comment Hearings for this application (Docket 23-08-32) on the following dates:
There are additional evidentiary hearings scheduled from January 23 – 31, 2024. These may be continued or rescheduled as deemed necessary by PURA. The schedule for the docket is available on PURA’s website at https://portal.ct.gov/pura.
