HARTFORD – The House Republican Caucus announced this week that State Rep. Joe Polletta (R-68) will serve as a Senior Whip for the 2023-24 legislative session.

The House Republican Caucus named Rep. Polletta one of two Senior Whips, whose duties entail serving as a senior “vote-getter” for the caucus, prioritizing good government practice and working to streamline important legislation and initiatives.

House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora said, “Rep. Polletta was a clear choice to serve our caucus as a Senior Whip. In his tenure in the legislature, Joe has displayed a proficiency for developing relationships which deliver real results through legislation. He will excel in prioritizing House Republican initiatives and be a very effective voice for his residents and our caucus.”

“I am honored to be named a House Republican Senior Whip in the new legislative term and I greatly appreciate the confidence of Rep. Candelora to serve in this important role,” State Rep. Joe Polletta said. “My work in the General Assembly is driven by the people I serve, but also those whom I serve alongside. I look forward to serving in this post.”

Rep. Polletta will serve on the Finance, Housing, Public Safety, and Human Services Committees in the 2023-24 legislative session. To learn more about the duties and responsibilities of legislative committees, please visit www.cga.ct.gov and visit the “Committees” tab.

“The role of legislative committees is one of the most integral parts of the legislative process in our state. I am thrilled for the opportunity to represent my constituents’ unique voices in these committees,” Rep. Polletta said. “Given growing issues of public safety in our communities due to restrictive policies and cost-of-living concerns due to inflationary spending, our work in Finance and Public Safety Committees will be essential in putting residents first and working to make Connecticut safer and more affordable.”

Rep. Polletta represents the 68th District, consisting of Watertown, Oakville, and Waterbury.

The 2023-24 legislative session will be Rep. Polletta’s fourth term in the General Assembly, after being first elected in a 2017 special election.
