HARTFORD – On Thursday, State Representative Joe Polletta (R-Watertown) slammed the House’s passage of controversial “paid sick leave” legislation, calling it another bad message to Connecticut’s business owners.

“After so many years of trying to keep Connecticut’s fiscal house in order, the legislature has taken a massive step this week in further alienating our state’s business leaders with another radical, anti-business bill that we have become known for. We are absolutely sending the wrong message to our business community, many of whom are still recouping from the state’s pandemic-induced losses. With this mandate, we are telling them that we will not support their growth in Connecticut, but make it harder at every turn,” Rep. Polletta said.

“This is not just a matter of anti-business policy, but it represents a massive threat to public safety by attacking our most vulnerable neighbors, many of whom are elderly and require around-the-clock healthcare. They cannot afford the lapses in care this policy will leave them, and nor can their families.”
