HARTFORD – On Thursday, State Representative Joe Polletta (R-68) announced that the State Bond Commission voted to confirm a series of state grants to municipalities in favor of specific community-building initiatives.

The announced funding includes an award to the town of Watertown reimbursing the Police Department for expenses of body-worn cameras, dashboard cameras, and video storage devices.

“This funding for public safety equipment in Watertown is a necessary investment in making our streets safer and I am happy to deliver this news to our district. Thank you to Governor Lamont, the State Bond Commission, and Chairman Rep. Ron Napoli for the contribution to our town.” Rep. Polletta said. “Body cameras and dashboard cameras have proven to strengthen public safety and trust in our communities. Their use protects law enforcement, the rights of citizens, and the integrity of our judicial system which faces constant pressure from lawmakers.”

Rep. Polletta is a member of the legislature’s Public Safety and Security Committee.

Rep. Polletta represents the 68th District consisting of Watertown and Waterbury.
