Bridge Replacement Project in Old Saybrook

The Department of Transportation announced the bridge over Back River on Route 154 in Old Saybrook will be completely replaced. A new bridge consisting of precast substructure elements and prestressed concrete slabs will be constructed.
In order to perform the work any existing utilities will need to be relocated. A new 12″ watermain will be installed as part of the construction. Upon completion, the overhead utilities will be relocated to approximately the same location.

The bridge will be closed from April 15 until May 5, 2024. Detour signs will be posted. During this time, traffic will not be able to cross the bridge.
