Since opening in 1996, Lymes’ Senior Center hasn’t gone through any major upgrades to the building itself. After yesterday’s groundbreaking ceremony, key renovations and upgrades are right around the corner.

As part of this proposal is 3,265 square feet of additional indoor space which will include motorized room partitions, an enlarged kitchen space, and quiet library room among other amenities. It will also include exterior changes with upgrades to the roof, porch, windows, cupola, entry way and landscape.

The facility is not only as a place for seniors 55+ to gather together through various programs and activities, it is also used to house the local VFW post, town nurse, while also serving as a vaccination clinic and safety shelter during power outages and other emergencies.

With over 1,100 members, the soon to be 8,737 square feet of interior space will provide enhanced services necessary to meet the needs of our senior center’s growing membership.
