House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora will join state Rep. Christie Carpino and CWCSEO Executive Director Steven Hernandez for an informational webinar on suicide prevention training. The event is March 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and they’ll be joined by QPR Master Trainer Thomas Steen. This webinar is free to attendees and open to the public but limited to 40 participants only. Participants will learn about the potentially lifesaving “QPR Gatekeeper” training, which provides valuable intervention techniques for “someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide.” Please keep in mind, if you have personally suffered a loss to suicide in the past six months, you might want to consider waiting to become an QPR Gatekeeper. The materials presented in this training can be triggering to those who are still grieving from a loss.
