“The Governor’s budget proposal continues small steps to make government more efficient and I applaud efforts to modernize our state agencies such as the Department of Motor Vehicles. But at a time when our state needs leadership, the governor has given us a multiple choice budget that would fill the deficit through either federal aid, draining the rainy day fund, or intense economic growth. The framework he outlined not only fails to inspire, it will leave everyone from parents and teachers to employers and retirees feeling less confident that we’re positioned for anything but a rough road to recovery. Aside from breaking promises on tax relief, this plan falls short of delivering help to the people who need it most right now, such as students, who will feel let down by a surprising lack of ambition in offering new education policy with the money that’s being promised.”
