Area Legislators Announce Durham Coffee Hours

The public is invited to Coffee Hours with State Representatives Vincent Candelora and Noreen Kokoruda on Wednesday, October 3, at Dunkin Donuts, located at 38 Main St., in Durham from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

This meeting is an opportunity for residents to express any concerns they may have and to ask questions pertaining to state government.

This event is free and open to the public.

Rep. Candelora Speaks at UConn Innovation Partnership Building Ribbon Cutting

Deputy House Republican Leader State Representative Vincent Candelora, UConn President Susan Herbst, lawmakers and industry partners attended a ribbon cutting to dedicate UConn’s Innovation Partnership Building (IPB) at UConn Tech Park located at 159 Discovery Drive in Storrs.

The IPB is UConn’s premier center for state of the art equipment, cutting-edge research and cross disciplinary partnerships. This vibrant new facility houses academic/industry partnerships with diverse expertise ranging from manufacturing to biomedical devices to cybersecurity and more. The IPB’s unique resources foster research that drives the development of new and innovative ideas and technologies and that promotes the creation of new jobs and economic growth for the State of Connecticut.

“Today was an exciting day for UConn and the State of Connecticut,” said Rep. Candelora.  “UConn’s impressive Innovation Partnership Building houses 10 industrial research and development centers that cover a diverse base, ranging from advanced manufacturing to biomedical devices and cybersecurity. This new addition will just add to UConn’s already prestigious reputation and I look forward to learning about their continued success in the future as they work to address the emerging needs of industry.”

The ribbon cutting commenced at 11:00 a.m. and was followed by 12:30 p.m. by the 2nd UConn Tech Park Symposium, R&D Innovation Partnerships: Driving Connecticut’s Future.

Rep. Candelora Speaks at the 67th Annual Meeting of the Connecticut Chapter Healthcare Financial Management Association

On Thursday, September 13, 2018, Deputy House Republican Leader State Representative Vincent Candelora attended the 67th Annual Meeting of the Connecticut Chapter of Healthcare Financial Management Association (CT HFMA) and was a guest speak at the event, which was held at the Aqua Turf in Southington. The theme was “The Balancing Act – Disruption, Collaboration, Leadership & Engagement” and included a full day of education and guidance surrounding the ever-shuffling priorities of healthcare with a legislative update from Rep. Candelora.

CT HFMA is a professional membership organization for individuals in financial management of healthcare institutions and related patient organizations. The Connecticut chapter is comprised of more than 350 members from across the state. These members are included in the larger national membership total of more than 40,000 colleagues from all 50 states who all strive to meet the many demands of this complex landscape we know as healthcare finance.

CT HFMA’s annual meeting was attended by many of Connecticut’s hospital Chief Financial Officers (CFO), Vice Presidents, Directors of Revenue Cycle, Certified Public Accountant, Finance Managers, and Controllers. These attendees included representatives from Hartford Healthcare, Yale New Haven and Trinity Healthcare of New England.

Rep. Candelora discussed issues pertaining to healthcare and answered any questions that attendees had about state government. Other speakers included: David Bittner, CFO of St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Charles Johnson, CFO of Hartford Healthcare.
