HARTFORD – State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) welcomes the House passage of legislation that increases access to federal financial aid for students at the state’s aviation maintenance schools.

The bill, HB 7202, An Act Establishing A Division Of Postsecondary Education Programs Within The Technical High School System, reclassifies aviation maintenance programs as postsecondary education programs for purposes of maintaining students’ eligibility for federal Pell grants.

“I commend my colleagues in the House for passage of this legislation. There are a number of businesses in my district – as well as throughout other areas of the state – that are eager to hire qualified aviation maintenance technicians,” said Rep. Zawistowski. “These are good, skilled jobs. This legislation will increase opportunities for our young people and at the same time fill an urgent need for our area employers.”
