Woodstock Students Visit State Capitol

HARTFORD, CT – April 3, 2025 – Students from Woodstock Middle School had the unique opportunity to tour the State Capitol Complex on Thursday, April 3rd. During their visit, State Representative Kurt Vail (R-52), whose district includes parts of Woodstock, was on hand to greet the students and offer valuable insights into the workings of the Connecticut House of Representatives.
“I truly enjoyed spending time with the students, especially after seeing many of them during my recent presentation on state government at Woodstock Middle School,” said Rep. Vail. “When the students visited the House Chamber, I had the chance to explain the mechanics of how we run our meetings and answer their questions. It was also a great opportunity to discuss the history of the chamber.”
Rep. Vail emphasized the importance of engaging young people in the legislative process and offering them firsthand experiences to help deepen their understanding of state government. The students’ visit provided an interactive learning experience that highlighted the significance of state politics and civic participation.
The tour and discussion allowed students to witness the legislative process in action and learn more about the role of their elected officials. Rep. Vail expressed his hope that the experience would inspire students to take an active interest in their government and continue to engage in the democratic process.
