Rep. Vail Visits CT Lottery Corporation

ROCKY HILL – State Rep. Kurt Vail (Stafford & Somers) toured the Connecticut Lottery Corporation (CT Lottery) at their Rocky Hill headquarters. State officials of the CT Lottery led Rep. Vail, along with other lawmakers, on the tour of the facility which is staffed by a little over 140 employees.
“The CT lottery provides a quality service that is enjoyed by all residents of Connecticut,” stated Rep. Kurt Vail. “I believe that this is illustrated by their commitment to producing the most positive gaming experience possible without sacrificing our state’s interests.”
CT Lottery has reported that they have a partnership with nearly 2,900 retailers. Each retailer offering lottery games retains 5% of every ticket sold. Additionally, all tickets sold in Connecticut are made with recyclable paper.
Profits made by the CT Lottery are distributed to the state’s General Fund. In fiscal year 2014 a reported $319.5 million went to the state’s General Fund with players winning an aggregated total of $667.8 million.
In regard to the ongoing discussion on KENO, CT Lottery believes that when fully integrated this game will produce a significant increase in revenue. However, a date when the game will be unveiled by CT lottery is not available as negotiations continue between the Native-American tribes and the Office of Policy and Management.
