Rep. Vail hosts local business leaders at Capitol

HARTFORD — During the Connecticut Business and Industry Association’s (CBIA) annual Business Day at the State Capitol on Wednesday, State Rep. Kurt Vail told north-central Connecticut’s business leaders that he will continue fighting for small businesses and workers who drive the local economy.
Vail (R-52) emphasized the need for smarter fiscal management in state government and more business-friendly policies. As a member of the legislature’s labor committee, Vail has been advocating on behalf of the issues that drive small businesses in Somers and Stafford.
“What I heard from business leaders in our communities today was the need for more efficient management at the state level,” Vail said. “If our state isn’t taking its expenditure problem seriously, everyone else, beginning with the mom-and-pop stores, will be the ones suffering. These small business owners employ men and women who call our towns ‘home’ and who want to stay in Connecticut.
“Sadly, after 100 years of being in business, our community is losing two small businesses. This is the kind of economy Connecticut has created, one that mandates businesses to jump through hoops, pay ridiculous fees and face high taxes,” Vail added.
CBIA has invited Vail to local business tours before: in January he and Sen. Tony Guglielmo toured American Sleeve Bearing (ASB), along with Dymotek, where manufacturers discussed similar concerns.
