HARTFORD – With the recent success of recently sworn-in State Sen. Jason Perillo, a vacancy opened on the newly created Government Oversight Committee. I have been appointed to fill this important role.
The Government Oversight Committee plays a crucial role in overseeing state agencies, including:
The Office of Governmental Accountability (personnel, technology, policies)
Key agencies like the Freedom of Information Commission, State Ethics Office, Elections Enforcement Commission, and the Auditors of Public Accounts
The sale or transfer of state property by agencies
Any bill requiring a state agency to transfer property to a non-state entity must be reviewed by this committee, and it also holds hearings on audit reports about state agencies and programs.
