HARTFORD – State Rep. Kurt Vail (R-Stafford), Ranking Member of the legislature’s Veterans’ and Military Affairs Committee, attended the Veterans with Disabilities Task Force Meeting on Wednesday, September 18th. The goals of the task force are to 1.) reduce veteran suicide, 2.) identify and raise visibility of existing resources, and 3.) identify gaps in service and find solutions to fulfill them. Today’s meeting consisted of several important updates, which focused on treating veterans who have served in warzones, from Vietnam forward. Additionally, there was discussion on the impacts of Agent Orange and its affect on veterans.
Rep. Vail is reminding the veterans of his community that on Friday, September 20th, Stand Down will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event connects Connecticut veterans with important services and support organizations. More information can be found at: https://portal.ct.gov/dva
