The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Engineering is developing plans to replace Bridge 02231 carrying Route 202 over Still Brook in Litchfield. This project involves replacing the existing structure constructed in 1928.

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in March of 2023, with construction anticipated to start in the spring of 2024; assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding, and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

It is the DOT’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with the DOT to assist in the project’s development. A public informational meeting will be conducted upon the completion of the preliminary design.

If anyone has any questions or comments on this project, contact Andrew J. Cardinali, Principal Engineer, at Andrew.Cardinali@ct.gov and reference State Project No. 0073-0194.
