Memorial Day 2019

Memorial Day arrives this weekend, and it is a time to reflect on the service of those who answered our nation’s call in times of armed conflict, and made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure future generations of Americans would remain free.

Below is a list of some important events happening in our district this weekend to commemorate this national holiday.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND 2019

Burlington

 Monday, May 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. – The parade will arrive at the Town Hall at 200 Spielman Highway.

Harwinton

 Monday, May 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. – The parade steps off from the Harwinton Fairgrounds on Locust Road, ending at the Town Green at the intersection of Rte 4 and South Road. Ceremony to follow at the Town Green. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Harwinton Congregational Church across from the Town Green.  Master of Ceremonies is Gary Schaff.

Litchfield

 Monday, May 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. – The parade steps off at the corner of North Street (Rte. 61 North) and Prospect Street.

Thomaston

 Monday, May 27, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. – Programs will begin at Reeves Little League Field, 9 N. Main Street followed in succession by ceremonies at St. Thomas Cemetery, Seth Thomas Park and the Thomaston Fire Department. The parade will step off behind the middle school located at 1 Thomas Avenue, no later than 9:30 a.m. The parade will proceed down Main Street to Center Street, then on to Hillside Cemetery, Marine Street, for ceremonies honoring the naval dead. The parade will reform at the bottom of the hill and continue to Veterans Memorial Park via Meadow, Elm and East Main streets.​
