Vernon Delegation to Host Food Drive in Memory of Bryan Flint

VERNON – In May, the community lost one of its champions who had made it his mission to help others who were in need. Bryan Flint passed away earlier this year after dedicating so much of his time to the homeless; now we all have a chance to take up that torch, carry on his legacy and help our neighbors.

The Vernon Legislative Delegation will host the Vernon Community Food Drive in Bryan’s memory to benefit the Cornerstone Foundation where he was the deputy director. This is a bipartisan mission

Prescription Drug Discount Card Program Starts Oct. 2

HARTFORD – The Prescription Drug Discount Card Program launched in Connecticut on Oct. 2, enabling residents to save a lot on prescription drugs through a partnership of states that leverages buying power and lowers costs.

For instance, using the card, the cash price of Omeprazole would be reduced from $93.01 to approximately $12.27. Other prescription drugs are eligible for similar discounts.

Applications are now open for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program, which provides heating assistance to residents, whether they are homeowners or renters.

Basic benefits toward heating bills range from $180 to $530 depending on income, size of household, and need. Benefits are available for households with incomes up to 60% of the state median income, which equates to roughly $79,910 for a family of four.
