HARTFORD – On Thursday, State Representatives Ben McGorty (R-122) and Jason Perillo (R-113) announced that the State Bond Commission voted to confirm a series of state grants to municipalities in favor of specific community-building initiatives.

The announced funding includes an award of $50,306 to the city of Shelton reimbursing the Police Department for expenses of body-worn cameras, dashboard cameras, and video storage devices.

“This funding for public safety equipment in Shelton is a valuable investment in making our streets safer and I am happy to deliver this news to our residents. Thank you to Governor Lamont and the State Bond Commission for the contribution to our city.” Rep. McGorty said. “Body cameras and dashboard cameras have proven to make our law enforcement officers more secure and increase the safety of our neighborhoods through strong accountability.”

“I am pleased to see the Bond Commission allocate funds supporting our local law enforcement,” said Rep. Perillo. “This funding will cover the cost of state-of-the-art video technology that allows our officers to effectively carry out their duties. It is important that we prioritize our police who work tirelessly to maintain the safety and well-being of our community and I am thankful for their dedication and service to the city of Shelton.”

Rep. McGorty is a member of the legislature’s Public Safety and Security Committee.

Rep. McGorty represents the 122nd District consisting of Shelton, Stratford, and Trumbull.
