Today, Governor Lamont signed the $51 billion bipartisan state budget into law. The package for FY 2024-25 is headlined by a state income tax cut for the middle- and low-income earners and families, the first in over three decades.

The fully balanced budget features more than $150 million for local education, establishes a phase-out on pension and annuity taxes, invests in public safety, and follows fiscal guardrails established with the 2017 bipartisan budget agreement. Each of these key initiatives

Summer is a fantastic time of the year with myriad recreation opportunities like hiking, boating and swimming available in easy reach of each of our 169 communities.

Sadly, every year Connecticut residents and visitors go missing while boating, tubing, and swimming. Anyone near the water or planning to go into the water needs to be aware of the conditions and use caution.

Visit 38 Farm Wineries for a Chance to Win More Than 100 Prizes

The Connecticut Farm Wine Development Council announced the 2023 CT Farm Wineries passport program is up and running!

Budget Negotiations Ongoing

Dear Friends,

As the legislature enters the final phase of negotiations to develop the state budget each of the four caucuses is working to make sure their priorities are included in the document. Unfortunately, Republican voices are frequently left out of those conversations.

Still, I’m hopeful these negotiations will result in a truly bipartisan budget; something we haven’t seen in our state since 2017 when Republicans held an almost equal number of seats in the General Assembly.

Distracted driving is a problem, but it doesn’t have to be. Every driver has the ability to end this dangerous practice and provide increased safety for other drivers and pedestrians. Putting cell phones down, keeping your eyes on the road and maintaining proper speed and following distances will dramatically cut down on crashes.

State Rep. Nicole Klarides-Ditria served as a panelist for the CT Youth Services Association‘s annual Youth Service Day at the Capitol On Wednesday, April 26th.  This year, the event featured about 100 youth and their YSB directors and staff from across the state for breakout sessions and a panel discussion centered around building confidence and finding their own path to success through encouragement and inclusion.

Another great day with friends at the capitol celebrating Greek-American Day! I want to thank Eleni Diakageorgio and Rev. Peter Orfanakos of Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Orange for coming up and bringing delicious treats to share, including Greek coffee and Koulourakia, the Greek Easter cookie.
