Today is Opening Day of the 2022 Legislative Session. I am proud to serve as a voice for the good people of Milford, Orange, and West Haven at the State Capitol. It was great to be back in Hartford today, and my colleagues and I look forward to returning tomorrow to vote on the governor’s Executive Orders.

Public safety and crime prevention is going to be a top concern of the legislature in the upcoming legislative session. Crime spikes across the state in recent years have left many Connecticut residents looking for solutions from lawmakers that prioritize the safety of their community.

Virtual Pre-Session Office Hours

In place of our annual in-person pre-session legislative office/coffee hours, Rep. Kathy Kennedy and I will be hosting virtual office hours via Zoom to discuss state issues and the upcoming legislative session.

The Zoom will take place on Tuesday, February 8th starting at 6:30 pm.

Rep. Kennedy and I are also asking any residents with proposed legislation ideas to share their thoughts for possible submission.

We look forward to hearing your input and encourage you to attend.

CT Cultural Fund Awards Grants to Milford, West Haven Cultural Organizations

This year, the CT Cultural Fund awarded $16 million in Operating Support Grants to 624 cultural organizations across Connecticut. Five organizations from Milford and West Haven were among the grant recipients.
Recipients include:
-Milford Historical Society
-Pantochino Productions Inc
-Ward-Heitmann House Museum Foundation
-West Haven Historical Society

Honoring Those Who Served — Veterans Day 2021

On Thursday November 11th, we observed Veterans Day and pay tribute to the unbroken line of brave citizen soldiers going back to the Revolutionary War who stepped forward and served our great nation in times of peace and armed conflict. We honor the brave men and women who fought to preserve freedom for each successive generation.

This year marks the 103rd anniversary of the signing of the armistice to end the First World War – the war to end all wars. Armistice Day

CT Sports Wagering Law Effective Today

Retail (in-person) sports wagering begins at our area casinos today with retail and online sports wagering by the Connecticut Lottery set to begin in the month of October.

The addition of retail and online sports wagering was passed through Public Act 21-23 this May.

In response to rising incidences of juvenile crime House Republicans unveiled a comprehensive approach to much-needed reform within the juvenile justice system on Tuesday morning. The plan identifies crime prevention resources that will be made available to all of Connecticut’s communities and specific adjustments that can strengthen the abilities of judges and law enforcement to address this crisis. MILFORD—Calling for immediate legislative action, State Rep. Charles Ferraro (R-117) joined a petition effort to bring all state lawmakers into session to implement reforms on the juvenile crime crisis that has gripped communities throughout the state.
