HARTFORD – On Wednesday, the House voted to approve an additional $13.5 million to fund the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and $3.5 million to Operation Fuel. This provides vital assistance to our most vulnerable neighbors in the peak of the winter season.
“I am glad that we can make strides in providing for our vulnerable neighbors during months of great financial stress due to utility costs,” Rep. Ferraro said. “Though it was my Republican colleagues in the House expressing concerns about upcoming shortfalls in the state’s home heating assistance fund. I have supported proposals to increase LIHEAP benefits and provide extra funding that catches the program up with inflation.”
The House passed the vital funding installment with a wide bipartisan effort.
