Special Session on Electric Vehicles Possible in February

Posted on January 25, 2024

It was less than two months ago that Democrats withdrew their proposed ban on gas-powered vehicles, due to various concerns voiced by Connecticut residents. Yet the Democrat majority party are now “feeling pretty good” about the prospects of adopting the California plan and make the California plan the new Connecticut plan. They are pushing now to have a special session before the regular session begins on February 7th, and by doing this it will prevent Connecticut residents the ability to weigh

The new facility is 30,000 square feet and features office space, a shipping and receiving department, an innovative warehouse, and everything their employees need under one roof. InCord is a supplier of custom lifting and rigging solutions, nets for playgrounds, construction

Update: ECS & State Fiscal Controls

Posted on December 15, 2023

In the most recent edition of the River East Bulletin, I outlined some details about the state budget.

I wanted to also mention that as a member of the Appropriations Committee, an area I have been involved and concerned about is education funding for local school districts. I am committed to continue to allocate education cost share funding that Colchester and other small town school districts rely on.

The 2025 state budget adjustments will be the focus of the upcoming session, and the Governor’s

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! As we kick off the holiday season, I was able to catch up with the Franklin Seniors last week and it was a wonderful visit! The Uncas Health District Mobile Health Team was on hand for the seniors, and I took the opportunity to get my blood pressure taken. This is a great resource that the Town of Franklin offers to their seniors, and I was glad to meet these wonderful nurses. I was able to catch up their members on our Acts Affecting Seniors, and we

HARTFORD – State Representative Mark DeCaprio (R-48) enthusiastically welcomed $500,000 in funding for the Norton Park project in Colchester, which was announced earlier this month from the Connecticut State Bond Commission. The approval for the park is part of a comprehensive $1.1 Billion in state bond funding.

With schools across Connecticut opening for the new school year, I wanted to post this important reminder to be extra careful as the roads will get much busier over the coming days. I want to wish the students and teachers in Bozrah, Colchester, Franklin, Lebanon, and across Connecticut, a very safe and productive school year!

When school is in session, drivers should use extra caution, especially near bus stops, schools, playgrounds, and athletic fields. With the amount of accidents on Connecticut

Connecticut Tax Free Week

Posted on August 20, 2023

As inflation causes prices to continuously rise, we are paying more for everything we purchase, including food, clothing, and skyrocketing fuel costs! I wanted to remind you that Connecticut Tax Free Week, which includes store and online purchases, runs from Sunday, August 20 through Saturday, August 26.

This one-week event eliminates Connecticut’s 6.35 percent sales tax on clothing and footwear costing less than $100 per item. Since sales tax is calculated after the use of any coupons or discounts,
