Read Across America: Scenes from Colchester & Lebanon

Posted on March 5, 2024

Colchester Elementary School

It is that time of year again! With all the fun I had last year meeting the students during Read Across America, I have been looking forward to this!

I had the opportunity to read to several first-grade classes on March 1st, at Colchester Elementary School. The book I chose to read was “Bear’s Loose Tooth”, and the students were very excited and engaged. I stressed to them how important it was to read and the children all agreed. To go along with the book, I asked if any of them were like Bear with a loose tooth? Many of them raised their hand, some saying – I have three loose teeth right now!

I want to thank all Colchester Elementary School students and school staff for their warm welcome and indulgence.

Lebanon Elementary School

On March 4th, I joined State Representative Tim Ackert, at the Lebanon Elementary School, in celebration of Read Across America 2024!

We had the opportunity to start our day with some wonderful attentive children.

We read “There’s a Dragon in Your Book,” and “The Dot.”

Representative Ackert and I stressed the importance of reading to the children, as reading opens-up wonderful possibilities in a person’s life.

We are very grateful for the warm welcome from all the students and school faculty.
