Around the District: Franklin & Bozrah

Posted on November 29, 2023

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! As we kick off the holiday season, I was able to catch up with the Franklin Seniors last week and it was a wonderful visit! The Uncas Health District Mobile Health Team was on hand for the seniors, and I took the opportunity to get my blood pressure taken. This is a great resource that the Town of Franklin offers to their seniors, and I was glad to meet these wonderful nurses. I was able to catch up their members on our Acts Affecting Seniors, and we had a vibrant discussion on protecting senior citizens predators and scam artists.

I want to thank the seniors along with Aging Program Coordinator Judi Novosad, for their nice reception, and the new Franklin First Selectman Alden Miner for attending.

From there it was off to the Collins & Jewell Company in Bozrah, where we had a meaningful discussion with their executive officers, and a tour of what is an absolutely impressive facility. Collins & Jewell specializes in custom and fabrication, industrial installation, project management and more. They have called eastern Connecticut home since 1946, and more recently had expanded to their new facility into Bozrah in 2014.

The importance of talking to our local business owners cannot be overstated. I look forward to meeting with many other business leaders in our area over the coming months and listening to their concerns and ideas on how to make Connecticut a more business friendly state.
