Upcoming Public Hearings

Your input is important to me as your State Representative. This portion of the legislative session revolves around public hearings on proposed bills. Testimony on bill proposals help legislators learn more about how bills may impact the people they serve.
You can monitor the General Assembly website to learn about upcoming what hearings are currently going on. The schedule is found on the calendar, that can be accessed by clicking on the following link: https://www.cga.ct.gov/.
Below, I have addressed frequently asked questions regarding the public hearing process.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Who can testify at a public hearing?
Anyone may testify at a public hearing.
What are the rules?
The rules vary by committee. The public hearing notices (www.cga.ct.gov) provide basic rule information, but the best reference is the website of the committee that is hosting the hearing.
How long should testimony be?
Testimony should take no longer than three minutes to be presented. Extra time may be given if questions are asked by committee members. Be prepared to answer questions from committee members. Additional information may also be submitted for the public record.
Should I bring copies of my testimony?
Written testimony is not required but is recommended. If you bring written testimony, you must bring a copy for every committee member (this number varies by committee). Your testimony can also be submitted electronically by contacting each committee in advance for the correct email address.
What if I can’t attend in person?
Written testimony can be submitted to the committee for consideration even if you are unable to testify in Hartford.
