Rep. Christie Carpino Views Importance of State’s Largest Airport Bradley
HARTFORD- State Representative Christie Carpino (32) recently toured Bradley International Airport with the Connecticut Airport Authority Executive Director Michael Shea and senior staff to better understand how improvements will enhance the customer experience for travelers.
Bradley International Airport has seen a strong recovery in passenger traffic post-2020, reaching 6.66 million passengers in 2024, a 6.5% increase from 2023 but still slightly below the 2019 peak of 6.75 million. Bradley offers nonstop access to over 40 destinations with 11 airlines.
Carpino toured Bradley’s renovations and additions to the terminal. According to Bradley, there has been steady post-Covid rebound driven by leisure travel and new routes.

Economically, Bradley generates nearly $2.6 billion annually for the region, supported by cargo revenue and major infrastructure investments.
Carpino spoke with airport officials about efforts to and secure direct flights to London from Bradley for the benefit of both business and vacation travelers. Rep. Carpino spoke with operations officials and had the opportunity to see the runway improvements firsthand.
“Bradley International is more than just a gateway—it’s a vital engine for our state’s economy and an important symbol of Connecticut’s forward momentum,” said Rep. Carpino. “Touring the airport was a powerful reminder of the innovation, coordination, and investment it takes to keep our region connected and competitive.”
