CROMWELL –Members of the Cromwell Fire Department along with State Rep. Christie Carpino participated in the department’s 6th annual Santa Run on December 10th.
Carpino rode along with one of the four groups of fire department trucks which traveled through different routes in Cromwell.
When the trucks go out into the community they hit every street in town. And as the engine enters a neighborhood the siren are sounded to let people know they are here. Kids come out of their houses and want to get their picture taken with Santa.
The department hopes to collect toys and food to less fortunate Cromwell residents. The department will accept donations of new, clean toys and non-perishable food items.
“It’s a way to spread holiday cheer around town,” said event organizer Lt. J.D. Zordan.
Those items will be collected and turned over to the town’s social services department who in turn will distribute the toys and food to needy residents, Zordan said.
Once the engines are ready, “We divide up into four groups and set off on four different routes throughout town,” Zordan said.
Carpino said, “I am proud to have been able to lend a hand to in this year’s Santa Run. It is a great cause.”
