Your Chance to Speak Out Against Higher Electricity Rates

Connecticut’s electricity rates could go even higher. CL&P is seeking a proposed rate hike of 5.9 percent.

If the rate hike is approved, the average non-heating residential customer’s monthly bill would increase by $12.48.

State officials will soon hold public hearings on the proposed rate increase and then issue a decision in December. If you would like to share your thoughts on the increase, please follow the below steps to submit your comments to the CT Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).

    • You can email your comments as soon as possible to Pura.Executivesecretary@ct.gov.
    • CC your email to me at Christie.Carpino@housegop.ct.gov
    • Please put ‘Docket Number 14-05-06’ in the email’s subject line.
    • Your comments on the rate hike proposal can be as brief as you like.

The hearings will be held Aug. 27 at 10 Franklin Square, New Britain; Aug. 28 in the Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Boulevard; and Sept. 3 in New London City Hall. They will all take place at 6:30 p.m.

I hope this information is helpful.
