CROMWELL- State Rep. Christie Carpino joined Kate and Ross Powell and their Connecticut Pink Warriors on one of their training walks where they eventually work up to walking 60 miles in 3 days for the Susan G. Komen ‘3-Day for the Cure’ walk.

“It was a privilege to participate in the training  walk with Cromwell’s own Kate and Ross Powell and their Connecticut Pink Warriors team. The Powells are an inspiration as they’ve completed the walk more than a dozen times in memory of friends and loved ones. This is a great way to honor the breast cancer survivors and to remember those who have lost their battle with the disease.” said Rep. Carpino.

Thousands of women and men come together to raise money for the fight against breast cancer. Then they take their commitment to end breast cancer one step further and walk 60 miles over the course of three days.

Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the Komen 3-Day walk help support national research and large public health outreach programs. The remaining 25 percent supports local community and Affiliate outreach programs. Virtually every major advance in the fight against breast cancer in the last 30 years has been impacted by a Susan G. Komen grant.
