CROMWELL- State Representative Christie Carpino (R-32) toured Cromwell Automotive and several other businesses in an effort to stay connected with the local small business community in the historic Main Street section of Cromwell. Cromwell Automotive owner Rodney Bitgood organized the event in conjunction with the Cromwell Downtown Merchants Association for Carpino, along with Mayor Enzo Faienza and Town Planner Stuart B. Popper.

“The Cromwell Downtown Merchants Association is a classic example of local business owners that put the community first. In just a few short years they have created several destination events for the community-Trick or Treat on Main Street and Memorial Day Car Show, Holiday on Main Street. A strong downtown Main Street business community is a plus for the entire Cromwell community,” said Carpino.

Cromwell Automotive is a complete service center which operates six days a week, is a licensed emissions testing center, and provides a local shuttle service to customers. Bitgood showcased Cromwell Automotive’s new state of the art Hunter Alignment Machine, which is quicker and helps drivers keep their alignments longer.

Additionally, Carpino, Faienza and Popper visited Big Deals Plus-Size consignment and spoke with owner, Cindy Lynn, about the need for signage to increase foot traffic on Main Street. Carpino toured the Tea Roses, which is a modern day British Tea Room which also includes a gift area full of local products by area artists and authors. At New Image, the second generation hair salon that has been in business 43 years, owner John Morello thanked the Cromwell officials for their continued support.

The visit also included local eateries, restaurants Spada’s Café and Mitchell’s on Main. Lastly, Carpino visited Skip Comstock owner of The H. S. Comstock Agency, an insurance industry professional of over 35 years. They welcomed new business owner Kim Girven of Next Door consignment that specializes in home décor. All of the owners have strong ties to the local community.

“I will use the knowledge I have gained from these tours to help promote the great businesses in Cromwell and foster a healthy business environment for the state. I’d like to thank all of the small businesses owners who graciously invited me to visit, especially Rodney Bitgood and the Cromwell Downtown Merchants Association,” said Carpino.
