Carpino to Attend Kickoff for Great Park Pursuit & CT Free Fishing Day

HARTFORD- State Rep. Christie Carpino will be participating in the kickoff of the 2013 “Great Park Pursuit Spring Sprint” sponsored by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s at Osbornedale State Park in Derby on May 11th.
“Free Fishing Day” in Connecticut will allow fishing with no license required. This opportunity will be available to both residents and non-residents and applies to all public waters of the state.
DEEP has a number of initiatives intended to connect Connecticut’s citizens with the outdoors and our natural resources and this designated “Free Fishing Day” provides another option. There are a number of fishing events scheduled to take place on “Free Fishing Day.” A “Family Fishing Day” is scheduled as part of DEEP’s “Great Park Pursuit Spring Sprint”.
“The Great Park Pursuit initiative helps teach those young and old about the wonders of nature and to enjoy outside activities while spending quality time with family,” said Carpino.
The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Teams should arrive by 1:00 pm in order to participate in the activities and receive credit. Teams will receive a No Child Left Inside® bracelet, which must be worn to each Great Park Pursuit event to ensure free admission to the venue.
The Great Park Pursuit is a part of the agency’s No Child Left Inside® initiative focusing on introducing families to the outdoors, building the next generation of environmental stewards and showcasing Connecticut’s State Parks and Forests. The Family Fishing event is free and no registration is required.
