CROMWELL- State Rep. Christie Carpino (R-32) spent a few hours this morning participating in the “Walk a Day in the Shoes” of a teacher event at Cromwell Middle School.
Carpino taught Mr. Graham’s 8th grade Social Studies classes about the importance of the U.S. Bill of Rights. She explored real life examples of court cases that explained how the First Amendment is applied to students.
Carpino was invited by the Cromwell Teachers’ Union President Patricia Maher to participate in the event.
Carpino said, “I appreciate the hard work our teachers put in to educating our students on daily basis. The kids were engaging and I enjoyed our first amendments discusses. I continue working with my partners: teachers and parents making sure the educational needs of our students are met.”
Walk a Day in My Shoes” program’s mission is to get every elected official to experience firsthand what life is like on the job.
