MIDDLETOWN – State Representative Christie Carpino (Cromwell/Portland) was recognized by the Middlesex County Substance Abuse Action Council (MCSAAC) at its 27th annual meeting. MCSAAC presented State Representative Christie Carpino with the 2017 “Terry Concannon Elected Official Award” in recognition of her substance abuse prevention work. Carpino has worked to reduce the opioid crisis by supporting bi-partisan initiatives requiring stricter prescription guidelines, limiting excess supplies of opioids, and increasing patient education and treatment options. In addition, Carpino has fought against reducing drug free school zones to keep drugs away from children. When presenting the award, Betsey Chadwick commented on Carpino’s personal approach in assisting residents navigate the recovery process.
