The Federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has left many business owners and individuals concerned and confused about health insurance coverage requirements. To answer your questions, the Portland Economic Development Commission will be holding an informational lunchtime seminar, “Healthcare Reform: Answers for Small Business and Individuals”, on Tuesday, February 26th beginning at noon at the Portland Public Library, 20 Freestone Avenue.

Ken Lalime, President of Small Businesses for a Healthy Connecticut (SBHC) and Chief Executive Officer of Healthy CT, will be the keynote speaker. SBHC is an independent group of small businesses that work together to provide an independent voice for quality healthcare. Healthy CT is a non-profit entity designed to provide individuals, families, and small business with quality health coverage at fair and consistent rates. Ken’s program will address the coverage requirements of the Affordable Care Act, the Connecticut Health Exchange Program, and provide information on insurance options available to Connecticut residents.

A question and answer session will follow. The program is open to all interested Connecticut residents and business owners. For more information, contact Mary Dickerson, Economic Development Consultant, at (860)342-6727, or by e-mail at edcportland@yahoo.com
