PORTLAND – State Senator Norm Needleman and State Representative Christie Carpino hosted a Community Conversation at the Portland Public Library. The state legislators offered an opportunity to Portland residents to ask questions about the actions of the state legislature during the 2019 session and provided them with updates on multiple topics.

“It is important to listen to residents as they voice concerns, ask questions, and offer their own perspective on new laws.  The effect on local residents is key to understanding how we move Connecticut forward. Although we may have different perspectives, Sen. Needleman and I both want an honest dialogue with our constituents,” stated Rep. Carpino.

“These events allow us to speak directly to constituents and hear exactly how they feel about topics that directly impact them,” said Sen. Needleman. “We owe it to residents to know what we can do to help them, as well as know where they stand on key issues. That allows us to return to Hartford with more confidence in our decision-making. I know Rep. Carpino and I take great pride in being able to host these events in district together to maintain a strong dialogue with our colleagues on both sides of the aisle.”

The event was attended by about thirty local residents and Portland elected officials.
