Kate and Ross Powell are participating in the Susan G. Komen 60-mile walk benefiting breast cancer research, and the Cromwell residents visited Rep. Christie Carpino at the Capitol recently to pick up a Connecticut flag they’ll fly above their team tents during the 3-Day for the Cure. The Powells and their team, the Connecticut Pink Warriors, also received a special citation from Carpino in recognition of the money the group raises for breast cancer research and awareness. Connecticut Pink Warriors is a statewide team dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, education and community outreach. Each team member must raise a minimum of $2,300 to participate in the Boston event, which starts July 22. Donations can be given at here or here. If you wish to join the Connecticut Pink Warriors and participate in the event you can contact Kate at watered@comcast.net. They only require that you have a connection to Connecticut.
