CROMWELL – State Rep. Christie Carpino today helped raise hundreds of dollars for the Salvation Army this holiday season. Carpino, who also represents Portland and Middletown, volunteered as a bell ringer for the organization, taking an hour-long shift alongside one of their red collection kettles outside the Wal-Mart department store here. The state lawmaker collected more than $600 in donations and chatted with constituents about issues tied to the legislature. Wal-Mart agreed to match dollar-for-dollar what Carpino raised, resulting in a total of more than $1,200 for the Salvation Army.
