CARPINO CELEBRATES WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

PORTLAND- State Rep. Christie Carpino joined the Brownstone Intermediate School student body, teachers and administrators to host the Wreaths Across America convoy in Portland on December 11th.
Skip Petras, Patriot Guard Rider and member of the Portland Veteran’s Affairs Commission, was instrumental in bringing the convoy back to Portland for a second time. The 18 wheeler filled with over 5,000 wreaths, is part of the 17 trailer truck caravan bound for Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, where more than 1,000,000 wreaths will be laid.
In a moving ceremony Brownstone Intermediate School, Principal Laurie Boske, was presented with a wreath. Boske’s husband was a Marine and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Three wreaths were also presented to the Portland Veterans Committee, Brownstone Intermediate School and the Town of Portland.
In Portland, the program commenced inside before the wreaths arrived. American flags and Wreaths Across America pins were passed out, and the high school band played patriotic music.
Carpino said, “Wreaths Across America has a motto, “Remember, Honor and Teach.” Principal Boske and Band Director Kristen Novak put together a wonderful program to convey this to our students.”
“Our students will understand the importance of those who have served and who will continue to serve,” State Rep. Christie Carpino said. “It was a very touching ceremony.”
