State Rep. Christie Carpino statement:
I was proud to support a bi-partisan Deficit Mitigation Bill yesterday to close Connecticut’s $365 million budget deficit. The legislation does not raise any taxes and makes some tough state spending reductions without eviscerating the safety net. I am extremely happy we were also able to allow capital grant funds (LoCIP) given to municipalities to be used for enhancing school security systems.
The funds for these security enhancements will be provided by Connecticut’s Local Capital Improvement Fund Program. This year, $30 million will be available to municipalities under this program.
