CROMWELL- State Rep. Christie Carpino (R-32) will be participating in the 17th Annual “Source to Sea Cleanup” along the Connecticut River on October 5th.

The program is run by Jacqueline Talbot, of the Connecticut River Watershed Council.

Volunteers are gearing up for the 17th annual Source to Sea Cleanup, which they hope will be one of the largest to date.
Each year volunteers haul away hundreds of pounds of trash. Last year the event saw the hauling of junk cars from the river in Cromwell.

For anyone who wishes to volunteer we will be meeting the Cromwell High School ECO Club and Chase Collegiate School of Waterbury at Cromwell Landing on Saturday, October 5th from 9am to about 11:30am.

Since the cleanup began in 1995, 806 tons of trash has been pulled from the river and its banks.

For information about the Source to Sea Cleanup, to join a group near you, register online, or to report sites in need of cleaning, go to http://www.ctriver.org and click on ‘Source to Sea Cleanup.’

Anyone with questions or a trash tip may contact cleanup coordinator Jacqueline Talbot at cleanup@ctriver.org or by calling 860-704-0057.
