MIDDLETOWN — State Rep. Christie Carpino stood alongside the mayor and public safety officials during a news conference here this afternoon to talk about the city’s response to the collapse of a building’s roof downtown. Communities throughout the state have dealt with similiar issues in the wake of repeated snowstorms. Carpino, who represents a section of Middletown, has offered her support to city officials and to business owners affected by the collapse here, which resulted in the closure of a section of Main Street. The impact on local commerce is significant. Carpino has been in touch with officials in the other towns she represents — Cromwell and Portland — about snow-related issues there.
