ELLINGTON – State Representatives Christopher Davis (R-57) and Tim Ackert (R-8) along with State Senator Dan Champagne (R-35) recently co-hosted an informational forum and question and answer session with the Connecticut Insurance Department at the Ellington Senior Center.

The conversation focused on long-term care insurance policies. Insurance Department Commissioner Andrew Mais, Director of the Life & Health Division Paul Lombardo, and Director of the Consumer Affairs Division Gerard O’Sullivan were on hand to answer questions and address concerns from seniors.

“Many constituents have reached out with questions and concerns about recent rate increases for long-term care policies,” said Rep. Davis. “This forum was an opportunity for residents to get information directly from the insurance department about rates and what resources are available.”

Rep. Ackert commented, “A key role of a representative is to listen to the concerns of your constituents and find solutions. I appreciate everyone who came to the forum to share their thoughts. This event touched on the problems of this insurance product, keeping costs in check for long-term care is a growing issue in Connecticut as our population ages.”
