(TOLLAND) — On Thursday, June 8th, State Representative Tim Ackert (R-8) joined State Representative Tammy Nuccio (R-53) and State Senator Jeff Gordon (R-35) at Tolland Middle School for a Public Forum on Street Takeovers across the state. Recently, a street takeover incident occurred in Tolland where more than 100 people blocked an intersection, surrounded residents in their vehicles, and caused extensive damage.

Additionally, the panel consisted of State Police representatives including former Hartford Police Officer and current Town Manager, Lt. Brian Foley, who discussed deterrence tactics and other preventative measures taken in case of future incidents. Over 200+ concerned residents attended, either in-person or via Zoom, demonstrating the significance of this issue in Tolland and throughout Connecticut.

“I want to thank all of the residents who participated and listened to our discussion,” said Ackert. “Illegal street racing affects traffic safety, pedestrian safety, and the quality of life in our state. By collaborating with state and local police, I am confident that we can employ a stable and effective solution to combat this issue.”
