As a result of public outcry and efforts by my colleagues and I to ensure that your voice was heard, the state’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) temporarily suspended Eversource’s recent rate increase while it conducts a full review, the purpose of which is to ensure that Eversource is not over-collecting revenues in the short term at the expense of ratepayers. The state’s annual Sales Tax Free Week this year begins Sunday, August 16, 2020 and runs through Saturday, August 22, 2020. During this one-week sales tax holiday, retail purchases of most clothing and footwear items priced under $100 are exempt from Connecticut sales and use tax.
