Our region and the State of Connecticut will experience single-digit temperatures for the first time this winter, which has triggered the Governor to activate the state’s severe cold weather protocol.

Anyone who needs shelter should call the United Way 2-1-1 helpline. The United Way 2-1-1 website also provides local, state, and federal information and resources including a list of warming centers and homeless drop-in centers.

Click here for a list of warming centers that are open throughout the state. If there is not a warming center listed in your town/city, please note that libraries, senior centers, and other public locations are good places to keep warm or seek shelter.

Cold weather also poses risks for your pets. Please don’t leave your pets outside for an extended period of time.
