HARTFORD – State Representative Tim Ackert (R-8) was recognized October 2 by the Connecticut Youth Services Association (CYSA) for his outstanding support and advocacy on behalf of Youth Service Bureaus during the 2015 legislative session.

The “Advocate for Youth” award is only given to handful of legislatures every two years at CYSA’s annual meeting. President Barbara Lockhart, who also serves as the Director of the Montville Youth Bureau, cited Rep. Ackert’s advocacy for youth services during this session’s particularly difficult budget debate as she presented the award.

“I have always felt that ensuring our state’s children have the services, educations and programs they need to succeed should be one of the legislature’s top priorities,” Rep. Ackert said. “I am truly honored to be considered an ‘Advocate for Youth,’ and will do my best to continue my advocacy in future legislative sessions.”
